Spring has passed, summer has gone, and winter is here;

And the song I meant to sing remains unsung;

For I have spent my days stringing and unstringing my instrument.

– A man who lived his life half-lived

Today on my birthday, these words of Sri Rabindra Nath Tagore for a man who lived his life half-lived echo in my ears bold and loud. The mere thought of such a life shivers me. At 33, which is more that one-third of my life-time given I am fortunate enough to grace the planet for 80 years I stay utterly confused and re-look for the lost rather forgotten meaning and purpose in life.

When life seems to be stuck, don’t lose HOPE

At times, life seems to be stuck and nothing seems to be happening (moving). You feel as if you are stuck in a rut. Past one year have been a year of pain and self-doubt. Thanks to my back-pain and ignorance of physical fitness. Ever since I have felt energy-less and found it difficult to get up from bed on days leave apart working on my goals. Some people call if suffering.  Anxiety, fear- fear of not being good enough, fear of not fulfilling on my goals, fear of living a half-lived life and many more had engulfed me for weeks and months. Although I have never lost the zest for life, I was not really enjoying it. Everything seemed to be stand-still at times.

Friends, I was finding meaning in suffering but later discovered that suffering is meaningless and we give our suffering a meaning by the way in which we respond to it. The greatest task for any human being is to find meaning and purpose in his or her life. The three questions that re-ignited hope in my life are:

  1. What are my sources of strengths to survive?
  2. What is that one thing I am here on earth for?
  3. Why is life so beautiful?

When I started writing answers to these questions in my personal journal, I was over-joyed with a new sense of hope, mission and purpose in life. I had more reasons to live life than to leave it. We must not lose hope, come what may. Life is a daring adventure, and we must enjoy the roller-coaster ride along this beautiful journey.

There was never a night or a problem that could defeat sunrise or hope.    -Bernard Williams

Wishing you all a very happy and happening 2017!
